Has anybody here personally repair his/her bike?
These are all I've got when I ask friends about repair his/her bike.
I do it all the time. I have an old copy of Bicycling Magazine's Bicycle Maintenance and Repair Book. To do it correctly requires all the proper tools and lots of patience to learn. I enjoy the act of repairing/restoring, but certainly understand why shops charge what the do. == Alan H.
Yep, I do 99% of all my repairs. I do rely on sound prosessional advise though == Derek B.
Fix em, break em, friends bikes, my wife's bikes. When I need advice I go to diybikerepairpdf dot com. Of course there is always a caveat - I DON'T DO CARBON == Mike Sheehan
Maintaining and repairing bicycles is one of my pleasures in life. Most things are pretty straight forward but you have to look at how things work. I'd be broke if I took all my issues to a shop. Great bike mechanics are sometimes hard to find for some reason. == Stephen B.
I have looked at just about every bike repair & maintenance material out there. I don't like any of them.
Why? Either they are too vague and basically are advertisements for professional repairs or they are outdated even in the latest editions: Or, worse yet, expensive advertisements for tools and gimmicks.
